Twee4me's Prolouge to...something.

this Prologue. to what?

My chest felt like it was being ripped open by the hellgates themselves. I staggered back against some tree trying to make sense of what was happening. They were coming for me...and if they found me....

I heard one off them scraping its long dagger-like claws on the back of the tree. I looked up at the sky with wide, scared eyes. Through the angry swaying trees, my world above me was turning into a deep malignant purple whirlpool. I dropped my head and squeezed my eyes shut as hard as I could. My one chance at freedom was slipping away faster than a bolt of lightning.

If they can’t hear me, smell me, or taste me, then I am safe, I thought. I eased my shoulders, and slowly slid to the ground. I dug my fists into the soil and and held my breath. The monster dropped to the ground and came before me. I could smell its breath, count the number of fugitives that it had devoured. I could sense its presence at its full height in front of me, deciding if I was actually there. It lowered its head, adjacent to mine and snorted in my face. I controlled my fear and continued to act dead. Hoping this wasn’t the end.

“Just because I can’t see you, can’t smell you, I can still hear you. Your pathetic heart beating. You will never escape this hell. The oath you swore to her majesty will never expire. You will serve your mortality until-”

“I NEVER SWORE AN OATH!!” My eyes burst open and as I jumped to my feet, my wings snapped out making me look like the real nightmare I was. I punched the lights out of its face as watches it collaspe to the floor. My breath was ragged now. I pressed my foot on its neck and waited until its looked at my with its hating blood red eyes. “I was never a loyal servant of the queen! She has disgraced my existance! Locked me up in her prison my whole life! Why should I be loyal to her? Why should I go back?!” My eyes were locked on its every move, wanting to kill it, wanting to run away and never come back to my consciousness.

The monster smiled, not happy, but as if he was victorious. “That is not your decision to make.” I pressed down harder with my foot, swearing I saw its eyes bulge out a little. I was not phased by its words. It continued talking, its voice firm and ice cold. “Because your use is drawing near. You will be her sacrifice!”

I began to shake uncontrollably now. Tears rushing to my eyes. “Like Luxy!! My poor friend Luxy who was sacrificed for the queen’s youth spell!! YOU BEASTS!!! She was,” my voice was uneven now and broke into a whisper, “my best... my only friend. “You will get what you deserve.”

I pressed down on his neck with my unnatural strength until I heard a sickening ‘snap’. Tears racing down my face I sprinted as fast as I could through the dense woods, the thunder exploding in my ears. My legs gave out below me minutes later.
NOOOOO!

I pounded the ground with my face. Scared, upset, confused, and belittled, I lay there sobbing. All of the perks of a fugitive teenage bird mutant. Barely able to raise my head, I looked through eyes fostering no hope, when I saw it.

I gasped at its beauty, this strange vortex showing a place of happiness, singing its cry of harmony. I saw a handsome angel, his perfect features smiling at me. With a heart full of no guilt or suffering, he reached out his arm to lend a hand. For one of very few times of my life, I smiled and reached my right hand out to his. But there were only a few specks of space between our fingers. As I tried to move my body to reach him, I became completely paralyzed. My skin feeling ice cold. My eyes reflecting a display or fear and agony.

As soon as it appeared, the bright blue vortex, and its occupant inside, it twisted into itself and turned into a picture of red; the exact same as the deceased monster’s. Inside was another monster grinning and holding out its arm. In the same place, just as the boy had before it. Against my will, some powerful force pushed my cold tattered hand into its steel claws. The monster started laughing its evil, bone chilling laugh.

It pulled my face close to its own and whispered. “Welcome home my dear.” I screamed as loud as my lungs could muster as I was devoured in the deep red portal. It vanished almost instantly as if nothing had happened there. And maybe nothing had.
